A Few of My Favorite Things

August 8, 2014 by Dawn Pasco

Takekya water and tea pitchers

This summer has gone by in the blink of an eye for me. There have been many things I’ve been wanting share, but just haven’t gotten around to doing it. There were a few gifts I received back in June for my birthday and some pitchers I found at Costco that I’ve been using all summer.

I found the above Takeya pitchers at Costco.  They come in a set with both the water and tea pitchers. I know Costco can be hit and miss depending on your location, but Amazon also sells them.  I love fruit infused water.  I shared these 10 ideas for  infused water last summer.  My daughter is horrible about drinking water, but she enjoys my fruit infused water creations. She calls it Versace Water after the Fashion Designer.  Strawberry infused water is a favorite of hers. My favorite is watermelon and cucumber mixed together.  The water pitcher comes with a plastic cylinder that screws into the lid which contains the fruit or vegetables of your choice. The tea pitcher has a cylinder for tea bags or loose tea.  You simply add hot water to the pitcher, let your tea brew for the specified amount of time, remove the cylinder and add ice.

#Downton Abbey Teas

Since we are on the subject of tea, did you know the The Republic of Tea makes a set of  Downton Abbey teas? My friend gave me the English Rose Tea for my birthday.  I’m a huge Downton Abbey fan.  You can find the teas at World Market, but if you don’t have a World Market near you, good old Amazon also sells them. Can you tell I like to shop at Amazon?  I’m an Amazon affiliate and  if you click on some of my links for Amazon and purchase something I get a small percentage of the sale. It’s not much, but I wanted to disclose that to you.

#Knock Knock Journals

I love to journal while sipping my tea.  I journal almost every morning and a friend of mine gave me a “I’m Doing My Best” journal she found at Target.  It’s filled with quotes and pages titled, “How I’m working on myself today.”  The introduction on the cover pretty much sums me up.  It states: A journal in which to prove that despite any indications to the contrary I am constantly working on myself and trying to become the very best me even though it’s a much slower and harder process than Oprah and Deepak would have me believe and while I would sometimes prefer just to swallow a pill or have a personality transplant I will keep plugging away at this internal self-improvement thing until I’ve done so well I can come back in my next life as a golden retriever.  I think that’s the longest run-on sentence I’ve ever come across.  I’m Doing My Best is one of several Knock Knock’s Inner -Truth Journals that can be found at Target.   There are all sorts of things on Knock Knock Stuff’s website I would enjoy.

#Williams Sonoma Fleur de Sel hand soap

One of my new favorite fragrances is Fleur de Sel.  A friend gave me the Fleur de Sel lotion from Williams-Sonoma and I bought the hand soap to go with it.  Fleur de Sel has a light floral fragrance that smells like summer to me.  Williams-Sonoma’s essential oil  hand soaps and lotions are made with premium essential oils and are a wonderful treat for your body and nose.  They change their fragrances with the seasons and the Spiced Chestnut is one of my winter favorites.

I hope you enjoy a few of my favorite things.  Do you have any favorite finds from this summer?  Please leave a comment.

Can’t wait to try the Takeya pitchers! I’m not a plain water lover so hopefully with some added flavor I’ll drink more.

I was just in Costco this week and they still have them (at least at my location). The tea one is great too 🙂
