Spring Projects

May 8, 2013 by Dawn Pasco

I’ve been compiling my list of Spring projects.  These are two ideas I found on pinterest that I would like to accomplish this Spring.  I thought I’d share them in case one of them sparks your interest as well.  Chances are you may even complete them before I do.  However, I’ll be sure to post photos when I get around to actually doing them.

Project One– Add fabric to the back of my media center bookshelves.  Courtney at A Thoughtful Place takes you through the step by step process of lining the back of a bookshelf with fabric.  I like this idea much better than painting the back of my bookcase a different color.  I like to change things often so this would be more practical for me. I’ve been considering doing this for quite some time.  Courtney’s post has given me that little bit of inspiration I need.  Courtney also gives some tips on styling your bookshelf.  I like to change my little vignettes on my bookshelf each season.

Project Two – I have an iron outdoor cart I purchased at a neighbor’s garage sale years ago.  It just needs a fresh coat of paint.  I bought a can of black spray paint years ago, but it has yet to make it onto the cart. Since then I’ve decided I’d like to paint it a fun color instead.  I was inspired by this post from House of Earnest.

Erin took the base of an old directors chair and a wood tray and created a bar tray.  I love the bold bright yellow she painted them.  You can read about her process here.   I love that this is a versatile piece and can be brought out for entertaining and then folded up and stored when not in use.  I’m thinking of implementing this idea with possibly a television tray.  I need to go hunting for just the right piece to paint.  What do you think?  Do you envision yourself doing either of these projects or do you have a project you’d like to share?

Can I be in the race too? I have been wanting to do the very same thing in our hearth room. AND I have an old beat up metal cart thingie (really bad shape) that the hubbie gave me a lot of grief over for paying a couple dollars for. Yep. Mr. Spray paint… It’s time.

Angela already got her bookcase done, but you are welcome to join me. I just bought my fabric today. I bought my paint today too for my metal cart. I decided to go with red.
