Easy Entertaining with Mars Ice Cream

July 16, 2015 by Dawn Pasco

Easy Entertaining with Mars Ice Cream

Do you ever associate food with a particular person? Whenever I think of ice cream I think of my Dad.  It’s one of his favorite treats. He loved making us banana splits and root beer floats when I was a kid. As the collection of ice cream novelty treats grew, DoveBars® emerged as one of our family favorites.  Mars Ice Cream now has a huge assortment of frozen novelties including  DoveBar® Miniatures that make summer entertaining easy and help beat the heat.

This month is National Ice Cream Month and Mars Ice Cream offers a line up of frozen treats that make me smile.  Their line of frozen novelties includes not only DOVE®, but SNICKERS®, TWIX® and MILKY WAY® Ice Cream Bars and M&M® Ice Cream Sandwiches.  I’m all about the chocolate, but for those that prefer a fruity treat, they offer strawberry and orange STARBURST™ Sorbet Bars as well.

Do you feel like people aren’t entertaining at home as much these days? I’ve talked to my friends about this and I think it’s because of the pressure to have everything perfect. It can be a lot of work cleaning your house, grocery shopping, and cooking.  One way to eliminate the stress of entertaining is to give yourself permission to not make all of the food. We recently had a BBQ with friends over the July 4th weekend and I served an assortment of Mars Mini Ice Cream Bars for dessert.

I displayed the Mars Mini Ice Cream Bars on my bar cart and put them in cupcake liners and fun Fourth of July paper baskets.   This made it easy for guests to grab what they wanted and the liners helped with any drips.  You can assemble the Mini Ice Cream Bars ahead of time and put them in a container in the freezer.  They will keep for a little while outside, but depending on the temperature I wouldn’t leave them out for long. However, they will most likely get eaten before they melt.  I also decided to put a few Strawberry Starburst Sorbet bars in glasses of lemonade for a creamy strawberry lemonade.

Life is always good with a little chocolate and gooey caramel! At only 60-70 calories a piece you can try more than one.

I think my son’s smile sums it up. Most kids, teens and adults love ice cream. It’s a nice cool treat for a hot summer day.  I encourage you to host a BBQ or Ice Cream Social this month and allow yourself to enjoy time with family and friends.  Entertain with ease by purchasing some of the food or asking guests to bring a dish. Trust me when I say it’s a much more fun and relaxing way to entertain.

I didn’t even know they made those mini ice cream bars! How fun are those to serve and to eat? I am wondering if I froze them really hard if they could be cut up and made into a fun dessert. Funny, ice cream is my Dad’s favorite treat. We always say he is running out to get gas in the car or pick up a lottery ticket just as an excuse to get some ice cream without my Mom knowing!

I definitely think you could make a fun dessert with the mini ice cream bars. The possibilities are endless. I’ve not been doing a lot of cooking this summer so I just kept things simple.
