Tips For Jesus

My husband likes to share stories that he comes across in the news with me from time to time.  I like inspirational stories and  stopped watching the news because I get tired of all the negative press. This is one of those stories though that shows how Santa exists in many forms.  Last year I wrote the post Yes, Lauren There Really Is A Santa.  It’s about the time my daughter discovered who was supplying the presents under the tree.  It totally took the magic out of the holidays for her which was crushing for both mother and daughter.   However, this time of year I hear of more stories about real life Santas.   You may have already heard the following story, but if you haven’t I thought it was worth sharing.

Someone has been giving out anonymous and extremely generous tips for the past three months.  Tips totaling as high as $10,000  on one tab which are charged to an American Express card.   The tips have been given out across America and Mexico.  The giver stamps @tipsforJesus next to an illegible signature.  There is a Tips For Jesus instagram account with over 54,000 followers  which has the tagline, “Doing the Lord’s work, one tip at a time.”  The account is filled with photos documenting the tips and smiling waiters and waitresses.  There is some speculation that this secret Santa is former Pay Pal Vice President, Jack Selby.  You can read more about the story at NBC News.

Yes, Lauren there really are Santa’s in this world.  One man can’t do it all alone, but he has lots of helpers out in the world. Some give tips or gifts and others give with hugs, smiles or a helping hand.   I hope you experience the magic of the holiday season and that it lasts through the New Year.
