Hostess and Family Gift Guides

December 5, 2013 by Dawn Pasco

#hostess gift guide

Tis’ the season for giving and attending parties.  When someone invites me to their home for dinner or a party I like to give the party host a little gift. I know how much work can go into entertaining and I appreciate the invitation. Hostess gifts don’t have to be expensive it’s the thought that counts.  I created a hostess gift guide on the website Luvocracy.  You can see my full list of gifts by clicking here. I came across the website on another blog several months ago and signed up for an account, but never really had time to experiment with it.  It’s similar to pinterest in that you can post images to the site upon installing a” luv this “pin to your tool bar.  You can follow other people’s recommendations whom you trust and you can also purchase things through the site.

A Luvocracy shopping assistant finds the product at a competitive price, places the order and will assist with any problems or return needs.  Kimberly at A Night Owl Blog does a great job of explaining the site here.   I haven’t personally used the site yet other than creating my hostess gift guide, but I wanted to share the site with you as another shopping option.   I hope you enjoy my selections and if you sign up for an account I hope you’ll follow me.

#favorite family games

1. Apples to Apples 2. Five Crowns 3. Farkle 4. Scattergories
I posted this list of some of my favorite family games last winter. Growing up my family often played board games and I have happy memories of playing Sorry, Monopoly, Pay Day, Mystery Date, Life, Clue, Masterpiece and who can forget Candyland.  As an adult I can’t say I enjoyed Candyland quite as much, but my kids sure did.   One of my children’s favorite games was Apples to Apples.  It’s also one I really like as an adult.  Our favorite card game is Five Crowns.  My parents introduced me to the game years ago and we’ve shared it with several friends who also love it.  It’s one the whole family can play, but mostly for kids roughly over the age of  10.  Farkle and Scattergories are also family favorites.  As my kids have gotten older they don’t enjoy an old-fashioned board game quite as much, but they still bring me joy.
I hope these suggestions help you with your holiday shopping.  I don’t know about you, but I’ve still got shopping to do.  What are some of your favorite finds this season?

Check out more holiday gift ideas from these past posts.

1. Favorite Men’s & Women’s Fragrances

2. Favorite Christmas Movies

3. Inspirational Movies

4. Favorite Lip Balms

I love shopping and sharing and hearing about your favorite finds.  However, I’m also reminded of what it truly means to give and this story at The Dose of Reality does just that.  Gifts of love and time are what truly matter and sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of that.
