To love and be loved is one of the greatest simple joys, but I’ve got a few more I wanted to share this week.
I love candy corn! Especially this time of year. This is a roundup of 25 candy corn treats from A Night Owl Blog. My favorite way to eat candy corn is pretty simple though. Just mix a bag of candy corn with a can of peanuts. It tastes like you’re eating a Baby Ruth candy bar. I waited until this week to buy candy corn, but I still haven’t opened the bag. Once I get started I can’t stop!
I love going to movies and had the opportunity to see two films recently. What’s even better is I loved both of them. Rush is based on the true story of the fierce rivalry between race car drivers James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) that took place back in the 1970’s. I don’t follow race car driving and had no idea who these men were, but their story is fascinating. Director Ron Howard is brilliant as always and Chris Hemsworth isn’t bad on the eyes. He reminds me of a young Brad Pitt. For those who have seen the movie, you can check out what was fact or fiction in the movie here. Most of it is factual.
Runner Runner is a movie about on-line gambling, corruption and what happens when you sell your soul for power and greed. Richie (Justin Timberlake) is a poor college student who once had a lucrative career on Wall Street. He becomes involved with on-line gambling and travels to Costa Rica to confront Ivan Block (Ben Affleck) who he believes has cheated him. Ivan runs the biggest empire of on-line gambling and Richie quickly gets in over his head. The movie didn’t get very good reviews, but my husband and I enjoyed it. I think Justin Timberlake is a great actor considering his main craft is music.
I can’t quite get in the spirit of Christmas when we haven’t even had Halloween yet, but I can get in the mood for shopping. I look forward to this shopping extravaganza every year which features unique items from over 220 retailers. Ooh, I’m going to have to try the peanut M&Ms! I’m waiting to hear back from the two people I picked to see if they can make it. If they can’t make it I will keep drawing so there is still hope. I’m pretty sure you can still buy a ticket though and they are only $15. I should know by the end of today.
OH, I want to see both of those movies! I think Justin Timberlake is a really good actor too. surprisingly so. Remember him in Alpha Dog?
I’m avoiding candy corn like the plague…at least until halloween, but when i do, i’m mixing with peanuts like you do. It is perfection!
I’m waiting until it gets closer to Halloween to open my bag of candy corn. It has required tons of willpower. However, I haven’t had as much restraint with the candy corn lofthouse cookies my husband bought 🙁 I don’t remember Alpha Dog. I’m going to have to look that one up.
I am really looking forward to seeing Rush! I haven’t really heard about Runner, Runner but now I’m intrigued. You know what else intrigues me…CANDY CORN!! I think I spied what looked like a frosted candy corn cake…I am definitely going to investigate that!! –Lisa
