BlogHer 13

I’m off to Chicago tomorrow to attend the BlogHer 13 conference and this makes me smile.  I love Chicago and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to attend the BlogHer conference which I’ve heard is the mother of all conferences.  Last August I was in New York City with a friend and the hotel we stayed at was hosting BlogHer 2012.  We were in line for a taxi and the lady in front of us was clutching a BlogHer tote bag.  I had just started my blog and was curious about what she thought of the conference.  I’m not shy about asking questions, just ask my kids.  She raved about it and told me it would be in Chicago next summer which is about an hour flight from my home.  You can call it luck or serendipity, but I like to think it was Divine Intervention.  I turned to my friend and said, “I’m going next year.”

When I told my parents I was attending a blog conference this weekend my Dad’s response was what the (insert 4 letter word here) is a blog.  He’s not alone.  There are many people who’ve never heard of a blog and they really don’t get the whole blog thing.  I understand  it’s not everyone’s thing.  I can’t describe how excited I am though at the thought of sitting next to thousands of women who do get it.  They understand my passion for blogging and want to learn and grow in this craft as well.

There are several companies sponsoring the convention such as Folgers, Ulta, Coca Cola, and many more.   There will also be keynote speakers such as Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman, and the COO of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg.  I’ve also been invited to a Hasbro Company party.  I’m thinking of riding in on My Little Pony.  What do you think?  That should help me stand out in the crowd.  BlogHer has all three days packed with workshops, activities and parties.
