Today is the first official day of summer. There are many things I enjoy about summer. Here is my top ten list of things I love about the summer months.
- Casual skirts and sundresses
- flip flops
- Dining al fresco- when it’s not 90 plus degrees outside
- KC Royal’s hot dogs- there’s nothing better than a hot dog at a baseball stadium
- fireflies- I haven’t seen many fireflies in a long time, but as a kid I used to love collecting them in a jar. Ah, the simple life.
- farmer’s markets
- grilling and outdoor BBQ’s- I especially like them since my husband does all the grilling.
- the smell of suntan lotion- I miss the tropical smell of the suntan oil everyone used back in the 70’s and 80’s that had an SPF of 8. It seems everyone uses sprays now with an SPF of 30 plus. It’s much better at preventing skin cancer, but doesn’t quite have the same coconut scent.
- traveling- We usually take a trip every summer. Sometimes it’s a road trip and other times we head to a fun city or beach which are my favorite vacations.
- watermelon- I love the fruits of summer. Watermelon is my favorite!
Since I’m on the topic of summer. There seems to always be a song of the summer. Some past hits have been “All Summer Long” by Kid Rock, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen and I predict this years song will be “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line. I’m not a huge country fan, but I have to admit the tune is quite catchy and I’m loving it. What are some of your favorite things about the summer months?
Now I have to go download “Cruise” on iTunes! I don’t think I’ve heard of it, yet!
