Gift Giving

December 13, 2012 by Dawn Pasco

I sometimes put so much pressure on myself to find just the right gift.  I can stand in stores for hours pouring over options while also trying stay within a certain price range.  After I make a choice then I second guess myself and perhaps ask another person’s opinion.  Maybe this isn’t you, but it’s me at times.  I recently ran into a neighbor while shopping who was doing the same thing so I know I’m not alone.  It takes the joy out of giving for me and in return I’m angst ridden (just ask my husband).  I am reminded by my favorite little publication, The Daily Word, “Just as there are a variety of gifts, there are endless ways to give.  In harmony with the flow of giving and receiving, I receive with gratitude and give with joy.”

I was somewhat stressed out at the beginning of my giveaway week.  This is the first time I’ve done something like this and the fear of the unknown and logistics got the best of me.  What started out as a good thing began to make me angst ridden.  About mid week I began to feel more relaxed and grateful for all those who participated and to my loyal readers.  If I could, I would make everyone a winner.  At the end of the day, we just need to do the best we can and that is enough.  If you find yourself angst ridden over gift giving, let it go and don’t over think it.  Give from your heart.  I love this quote from Oprah, “Whatever your gift this season and beyond, let the message be; I appreciate you.  I am grateful.  You matter to me.”  Those things don’t come in a box, but from your heart.  I appreciate all of you, and I’m  grateful that you take the time to read my blog.
